The goal of the Hibbing Human Rights Commission is to work with the community to promote human rights and dignity, eliminate hate, prejudice and discrimination, respect diversity, and to provide a local and confidential source of assistance for residents and non-residents with discrimination complaints.

The purpose of the Hibbing Human Rights Commission is to secure for all citizens freedom from discrimination because of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, disability, status with regard to public assistance, sexual orientation, and age.

The Human Rights Commission consists of six members appointed to three year terms. Meetings are held as needed.

The Human Rights Commission is governed by Chapter 2 Section 2.20 of the City Ordinances.
